Definition:
The axolotl, Ambystoma mexicanum, is a paedomorphic salamander closely related to the tiger salamander. Axolotls are unusual among amphibians in that they reach adulthood without undergoing metamorphosis. The golden albino axolotl morph is one of the many unique color morphs of the species. They are quite easy to distinguish with their golden body hue and pink or red eyes, and they frequently have light-reflecting pigments known as "iridophores" covering their tails and bodies.
